About Othmania Islamic School

Jamia al-Uloom al-Islamia al-Othmania was founded in Rajab 1428 AH (July 2007) by Sheikh al-Hadith Muhammad Hasan Jan Madani. In the middle of conflict and insecurity in Afghanistan, the founders launched an elementary programme for children and a Quran memorisation school under the Othmania name with only the simplest resources.

By Allah's grace, the institute has since grown into a full university. Hundreds of students have completed Quran memorisation, advanced Hadith studies, and specialisation in Hanafi jurisprudence, and the continuous Quran tafseer class has benefited learners near and far. The university remains independent of governments or parties and is sustained through the generosity of well-wishers inside and outside Afghanistan.
